Executive assistants (EA) have assisted their managers run their offices efficiently and organize schedules with confidence and aplomb in the past. The workplace has significantly mutated, but many roles of the Executive Assistants have remained hamstrung in the old traditional workforce and workspace in both style and mode. Workforce is ecosystem-based, hybrid and remote; workspace is tech-savvy and virtue; workplace is flexible and digitally-enabled; methods are reconstructed and custom-made. This is shifting the role and functions of the Executive Assistants in a dramatic way, yet few Executive Assistants are sufficiently prepared to deal with the changes occasioned by the future workspace and workforce. How will the future Executive Assistant fit, align and manage roles redefined by technology, intelligent processes, flat and interconnected inter-organizational structures and digitally connected workforce?
