STRATEGY EXECUTION USING THE BALANCED SCORECARD
Effective strategy implementation remains one of the greatest challenges institutions face. It is more difficult than formulating a good strategic road map. Four main barriers stand in the way: vision barrier, people barrier, management barrier and resource barrier. A bad strategy, however clinically executed, leads the entity into intensive care unit; a good strategy characterized with the barrier cited takes the entity into high dependency unit. A bad strategy wrapped in the four barriers sends the entity to the corporate morgue. Entities tend to overcomplicate strategy, under-communicate and get imprisoned by the inherent structural conflict between strategy and organizational design and dissonance between long term planning and operational issues. How does your organization translate the vision into operational terms? How does your organization balance the strategic dimensions, break the silos and make strategy execution everyone’s business? How can your organization reach strategy execution excellence (SEE) level?
