Strategy execution is much more difficult than strategy formulation. In an era where data and evidence driven decision making is the single-most important arsenal for any manager, developing key performance indicators that are strategy focused is not an option managers working in any strategy focused entity can ignore. Strategic alignment and organizational performance go hand in hand, and KPIS aligned to strategy is the springboard on which performance rests. Why do most organizations develop the wrong key performance indicators to assess strategic performance? How do we identify and measure what really matters?
